Sierra Vista Area Chamber Annual Board of Directors Election 2019
VOTING HAS ENDED FOR THIS YEAR
There were four vacant seats in the 2019 Board of Directors election with six candidates running for the board.
Each Chamber member business/organization in good standing was entitled to one voting ballot. Executive Club members in good standing were entitled to two voting ballots.
Members could choose to vote for up to four candidates – any ballots with more than four votes was deemed invalid.
The four candidates receiving the highest votes will be REVIELVED at our Annual Gala on April 26, 2019. You can purchase tickets by clicking HERE.
Below are the candidates’ bios for more information. Thank you for your continued support of the Sierra Vista Area Chamber of Commerce.
Bernie Albertini serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Canyon Vista Medical Center, overseeing the Sierra Vista Medical Group, several departments at CVMC, as well as operations at the hospital. Bernie brings a wealth of experience, having been the Chief Administrative Officer and Vice President at East Ohio Regional Hospital, a 138-bed hospital, for over six years. He managed the operations at East Ohio Regional Hospital as well as the Executive Management for the Ohio Valley Medical Group, consisting of 54 physicians with various specialties. Bernie received his MBA from William Howard Taft University and graduated from Ohio Northern University with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. He is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives and has previously served as member of several committees, including the Environmental Sustainability Council and the Disaster Preparedness Committee.
Daniel Barney is the new Store Manager for the Lowe’s Home Improvement in Sierra Vista. I grew up a few miles away from Sierra Vista, North on the San Pedro river, in Mammoth AZ. I graduated high school as a San Manuel Miner and after college I began my career in retail. My wife Silvia is also from Mammoth AZ and we have three kids Nate 18, Kloi 13 and Hailei 11. I have been with Lowes for 14 years and have worked at stores in Tucson, Show Low AZ, Santa Fe NM most recently and most recently I relocated my family back to AZ.
I have six years experience serving on Chamber Boards. I have served on the Green Valley AZ Chamber board for 4 years during 2012-2016. I also served on the board for the Espanola Valley Chamber for two years 2017-2018.
Kevin (Mike) Coleman has been married 43 years to Eva M Coleman. Retired from Coast Guard as an MKC E-7 on July 1,1996, Worked at and ran apartment complexes in Newport News Va. Until Move to Sierra Vista Az. in fall of 2017. Upon arrival we started MiCasa SuCasa Cleaning and joined the Sierra Vista Chamber of Commerce who helped us in many different ways get our business up and running. We attended and still attend a few different networking organizations to get the business running and keep it running. I feel i would be an asset to the Chamber by bringing an open mind and new ideas.
Melany Edwards-Barton has over 20 years of business leadership experience in non-profits, for-profits, and volunteer organizations. She is an Army widow who spent over 15 years married to the military. She has lived and worked in Cochise County for over 16 years.
In 2008 Melany obtained her Associate’s in Business Administration through Cochise College and graduated with Honors. She is an Alumni of Phi Theta Kappa. In 2009 Melany won a full-tuition merit scholarship and attended Northern Arizona University. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Business Administration, graduating in 2010, Magna Cum Laude. She is an Alumni of the Golden Key International Honour Society. In 2011 Melany obtained her Real Estate License and went to work at Haymore Real Estate, LLC. In 2013 she was voted the Rookie REALTOR® of the Year. She obtained her Military Relocation Professional certification in 2018.
Melany is active within the community as well. She is the Co-Chair of the Sierra Vista Area Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee and an Ambassador. She is also a member of the of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®, the National Association of REALTORS®, the Arizona Association of REALTORS®, and the Southeast Arizona Association of REALTORS®. Melany is also a Business Advisor for the Professional Women of Excellence.
Melany is the mother of one amazing daughter and grandmother to the three wonderful granddaughters. In her spare time she loves to read and kayak. She also enjoys spending time with her friends watching the unparalleled Arizona sunsets while sipping on the exceptional local Arizona wines.
Mrs. Wendee Grinde is the Director of Operations at the University South Foundation where she runs the day to day operations for a Board of Directors who supports the University of Arizona’s Sierra Vista College. For several years she also served MICA (the Military Intelligence Corps Association) as their Office Manager; both organizations are non-profit 501(3)c organizations.
Mrs. Grinde spent a couple of years as a sales associate in the Dillard’s Home Department and spent 5 years at KB-Home in Tucson as the Customer Service Investigator, but her longtime career was working in advertising where she began creating and designing advertisements at the SV Herald Review before relocating to Tucson where she managed the placement of newspaper advertisements in publications across the country and was the Production Project Coordinator for a Tucson Agency. Mrs. Grinde remained in Tucson for an additional 15 years working as Market Manager and Trainer for a National Advertising Research Company.
Mrs. Grinde moved to Sierra Vista with her family in 1972. She started her own family at a young age and assisted her mother Secretarial Business for several years before finding her ‘niche’ in advertising. After spending 20 years in Tucson, Ms. Grinde return “home” in 2013 to be closer to family. When Wendee and her husband, Eugene, are not spending time with their 15 grandchildren and great grandson they take adventures down dirt roads in Southern Arizona, where they explore nature and search for windmills to photograph.
Creative design, event planning, website management and social media are some of the tasks Mrs. Grinde enjoys investing time into. Her heart is fulfilled by witnessing the life-changing stories from students who receives the scholarships that are awarded at UA Sierra Vista and UA Douglas. Currently, Mrs. Grinde is in the City of Sierra Vista’s Leadership Program and is looking forward to graduating in May and taking the next steps to leadership in Sierra Vista. Her knowledge, skills and dedication to non-profits in Southern Arizona would provide a valuable perspective to the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Joan Wilson is interested in joining the Sierra Vista Chamber of Commerce board because I want to be more involved in the community and to help Sierra Vista grow. Experience LONG REALTY, REAL ESTATE AGENT — 2015-PRESENT As a full time real estate agent with Long Realty, I am involved in residential and commercial real estate. Currently I am working with the city of Sierra Vista to bring in new businesses and business opportunities. SAAR (SOUTHEAST ARIZONA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS) — 2016-PRESENT I was the treasurer for the SAAR board for 2 years and I am President-Elect this year. I sold the building that SAAR owned and helped refocus attention on our members and the community. WOMEN’S COUNCIL OF RELATORS – 2015-PRESENT As President of the Women’s Council of REALTORS, my focus is to provide more educational opportunities to the membership.
